Fun with shirring!

These are two shirred dresses that I made over the summer. This first dress is my epic tie-dye one... I tie-dyed two or three yards of white fabric and then shirred it into a full length dress :)

This next one is shorter, made with Hobby Lobby textured blue fabric and purple/white flowered fabric.

  1. What's shirred mean?

  2. Shirring is a technique where you use elastic thread and gather the fabric so it's stretchy. If you look at the top of the dresses, it looks kind of wrinkly... that's because it's been shirred. It makes it more form-fitting and easier to take on and off.
